When a loved one passes away, the responsibility of administering their will or trust falls upon the person designated by the relevant document—a trustee for a trust and a personal representative for a will. Serving in this capacity can be emotionally, physically, and intellectually daunting, and the trustee or personal representative must carry out their duties and responsibilities in a timely, ethical, and prudent manner.
